Spa-hospital as a therapeutic centre was founded in the 18th century. The rooms and apartments are furnished luxuriously with antique furniture and comfort, amenities include television, telephone and minibar service. In addition there is a saloon, a reading room, a restaurant and a bar, called for your enjoyment.
The view from the room is magnificent. Looking out of the window one sees the green lawn, flowerbeds and antique statues and fountains of the park. A small stream flows through it and beyond there is a picturesque wooded countryside. There is a peace, elegance and style.
In the hotel there is a restaurant offering Hungarian and international specialities and beside the traditional services you can have dietetic meals.
As far back as two thousand years ago (in the Roman ages) people suffering from locomotion disorders came to look for cure to the mineral springs at Balf, rich in hydrogene sulphide.
Among the attraction of the site and medical potentials of the environment the following may be mentioned:
- The high hydrogene sulphide content of the mineral water (14mg/l); the alkaline, slight carbonic and lithionic acid concentration of the the springs is suitable for drinking cures.
- The mild alpine climate influence and the moderating effect of surrounding forestes provide a pleasant macroclimate in locality.
- The attractiveness of the natural environment.
Treatment with natural water containing hydrogene sulphide is available at the bathhouse. There are swimming pools, bath and suspension of body in hot bath with added weight.
Treatment paralell with rehabilitation of patients takes places in the Balf Medical-Castle Hotel, however possibilities for preventive and conditioning cures are also available, e.g. the covered swimming pool and and gymnasium providing training and rehabilitative swimming.
