Hajdúnánás bath spa resort
History of spas
After Hajdúszoboszló and Debrecen Hajdúnánás is the third spa in Hajdú-Bihar county. As early as in the 1930s it was found that a very rich resource of thermal waters was hidden under the area of the town but it was only in the late 1950s when its utilization began. After the drillings the water uprushing on 5 November 1958 was diverted to an already existing boating pond and people went bathing there until the new pool was built. The years following the uprush of the thermal waters saw an enormous change: the area with the little island in the middle of the pond was converted into a garden, trees were planted, small summer cottages were built. The wooden bridge joining the island and the "land" gives rise to romantic feeling in people passing there: the whispering reeds, the boats swinging on the water attract people by dozen.
The bath (its former name: Town Bath) opened on 15 July 1962 is based on the 67°C medicinal waters spouting from 1019 metres deep. The components of the water are a match for those of Hajdúszoboszló. The visitors of the bath come from Hajdúnánás and its surroundings. Among the foreigners it is the Polish people who like most the bath of our town.
As a result of a complete reconstruction in 2003 the bath became one of the most beautiful baths waiting for people who feel a desire to be recovered or who simply want to take a rest.
