History

The first source which mentions the name of K?telek dates back to the 14C. The settlement got its name from the nearby monastery. The ruins of this monastery were visible in the 19C, but nowadays there is nothing to see anymore. It was destroyed in the 13C by Tatar troops.

There is a legend of Ferenc II Rákóczi in K?telek. One says that he came here with his troops, took a rest, and also graved some jewel here. Lots of people tried to find it, but until nowadays, nobody did…

In recent years tourism is getting more and more important in K?telek.
