Nádudvar bath spa resort

You may have a peaceful time in Nádudvar, which is famous from the black pottery made here, if you visit its spa. The water of this spa is very similar to the famous medicinal water of Hajdúszoboszló. It is recommended for those who have some kind of motor disease.

History

The first source which mentions the name of Nádudvar dates back to the 13C. When the Cumanians and than the Tatars invaded Hungary this land became deserted. New settlers came only during the times of the Anjou kings and King Mathias. In the 16C it was already an oppidium, which means a small town with some privileges. When the Turks invaded Hungary, Nádudvar was attacked two times and became deserted again. The new settlers, who came here in the 17C were driven away in the 18C by Serbian troops. But the inhabitants of this land could start all over again, rebuilt their homes and the town, and soon it became the chief town of the district. In the 20C, after the railway was laid down, the town flourished. After the World Wars people got very poor here. It began to develop again only during the 80s.

Place of interest

After refreshing your self in the spa, you should take a walk in the town, because there are some interesting things to see and do.

If you would like to know more about local history there is an interesting exhibition in the Calvinist priest house.

If you would like to see the famous black potteries of Nádudvar, don’t miss to visit the pottery museum. There are some great master craftsmen in Nádudvar.

Besides these, you should walk around Nádudvar, see the old traditional houses with reed roofs and white walls.

It is a perfect place to refresh your self and take a rest after traveling around the country and visiting busy towns.
