Püspökladány spa resort
The town is situated at 50km from Debrecen, on the Western border of the Hajdú-Bihar county. Here diverges the road nr. 4 jointing Budapest with Záhony and the main road nr. 42 to Romania. In the near of the town there is a lake system of many acres available for fishing.
By the town there were found hollow graves of 4000 years old, being unique in the whole country.
The first time the town is mentioned in a charter is in 1351, in the charter of Várad as Ladan, in 1543 as Pispek Ladan, and in 1901 as Püspök Ladány. The present day mane of the town has its origin in 1901.
The development of the town during the centuries was very slow, it was detroyed and repopulated many times. From the end of the XVIIth century it was an agricultural town. In 1876 by the administrative reorganzation of the territory the town was enclosed from Szabolcs to Hajdú county. In 1929 it became the seat of the township. After the dividing of the land and the establishing of the collective farm there were formed many industrial units, too. The institution network system of the town was formed, and due to the infrastructural development the number of the inhabitants grew.
Püspökladány is a typical city of the Great-Plain lying in the middle of the Trans-Tisza, at the meeting point of three regions: Sárrét-Nagykunság-Hortobágy. Thermal water was found in this area at the beginning of the last century, in 1920. More that four decades ago a thermal sands spa was built to utilize the gift of nature and it has been popular ever since among local inhabitants and people coming from other cities ,too.
For better using the facilities in 2003 the Püspökladány Spa Center was inaugurated for the great joy of the local residents. The water of the complex (that is open all year) contains sodium-chlorine, hydrocarbonate, iodine, bromide and wells up from 1068 m.

Our spa is waiting for the patients and guests with thermal pools, mud treatment, medicinal massage, underwater massage, effervescent and weight bath, underwater medicinal exercises. The wide range of treatments are further extended with 30 types of electrotherapical treatments that serve the recovery of our patients.
