Sárvar bath spa resort
Sárvár is one of the most beautiful towns situated in the western part of Hungary, placed on the main road 84, which goes from the Austrian boarder to lake Balaton. This small town is very rich in cultural, and historical sights, surrounded by waters, forests and hills.
One of Sárvár’s characteristic features is the Nádasdy-castle dating back to the Middle Ages. Its white spire, arching bridge and perpendicular internal court are all unique features of the Renaissance castle flanked by trees planted in the moat. The improvement of the town started in the ages of the Nádasdy Family. The also nowadays wonderful castle had famous owners through the history e.g..: the Habsburg – Lotharings, Bavarian princes and here lived the last Bavarian king, Ludwig III. and his son Prince Franz with his family.
The arboretum near the castle, used to be the king-garden, has several rarities including over 350 species of trees and bushes. Since 1952 the 16 ha big garden is under environmental protection.
The rowing lake, the River Rába, the parks and green woods all provide ideal conditions for all age groups to rest, take trips and simply just spend a few memorable days in and around the town.
Sárvár provides several cultural, sporting and entertainment facilities for all its visitors. Those who opt for active recreation, can do cycling, fishing, hunting, riding and touring in the breath-takingly beautiful natural environment. The River Rába provides ideal conditions to make paddle boat and canoeing tours.
Tourists also like to visit the town for its high-quality cultural programmes e.g. the International Folklore Festival organised every year, the International Brass Band Festival, the Simon-Judas nation-wide open-air market, and also the so-called Historic Days.
The most attractive part of the Sárvár area is without doubt its two completely different types of healing water. One of them contains alkaline hydrogen carbonates, sodium and microelements and is especially suitable for the treatment of locomotive disorders, rehabilitative after-treatment (including sport injuries), neurological complaints and muscle relaxing baths.
The new Spa and Wellness Centre Sárvár, which conforms to international standards, was opened in December 2002. The new Spa has first class services with covered and partly covered pools, world-famous healing waters, wellness services, modern therapy, possibilities for children, fitness- and beauty services. The Spa- and Wellnesscenter Sárvár won the first prize of Hungarian Wellness Association in the best wellness center category in 2004.
The most attractive part of the Sarvar area is without doubt its two completely different types of healing water upon which the development of Sarvar is based. In the Sarvar area, healing water which springs from a depth of 1200 metres reaches a temperature of 43 °C, while the water which originates from a depth of 2000 metres has a very high salt content and reaches the much higher temperature of 83 °C.
From the 83 °C rich saline water, the famous Sarvar crystal is produced through the process of evaporation. This salt abundant medicinal healing water can be used effectively in the treatment of certain ailments and locomotive diseases as well as for dermatology and gynaecology.
The 43 °C thermal water contains alkaline hydrogen carbonates and is especially suitable for the treatment of locomotive disorders, rehabilitative after-treatment ( including sport injuries), neurological complaints and muscle relaxing baths.
