History
Zalakaros is one of the youngest towns of Zala district, but also one of the most dynamically developing towns of this land. It became an important town after the first bathing facilities were built which attracted lots of tourists. According to this it got the title of a town in 1997.
The first source which mentioned the name of Zalakaros dates back to the 13C. The inhabitants of the village lived from agriculture until the 20C when one found the thermal springs here while boring for hydrocarbon. After that everything has changed in Zalakaros and nowadays most of its inhabitants live from tourism.

Here, we would like to assist your stay with a few important pieces of information. In the Thermal Beach, Therapeutic Centre, Covered Bath and Adventure Bath there are healing, thermal, adventure and sport pools of altogether 5360 m2 water surface at your disposal, from which 1430 m2 indoor and 656 m2 water surfaces are directly connected to the covered building.
The spa water discovered in the course of an oil exploration drilling in 1962 became the basis of the healing, thermal and adventure bath complex.
The spa water of 96 °C temperature is high in sodium chloride, bicarbonate, iodine, bromine and sulphur, which is excellently suitable for the treatment of rheumatic diseases, chronic arthritis, chronic gynaecological diseases, and orthopaedic pre- and post-surgery as well as vegetative nervous system disorders.
Our business philosophy focuses on the development of three areas:
- 1. An ambulatory care system built on high standard therapy and manual therapy, taking advantage of the possibility provided by the water.
- 2. In the case of the therapeutic centre - adventure pools, satisfying recreational and wellness needs without age limit.
- 3. The thermal beach providing high standard bathing and leisure time for every member of the family, with seasonal operation from 1 May - 30 September.
Covered Bath facilities:
2 spa water pools, 1 thermal water pool, with dressing room, independent sanitary block, resting areas, free deck-chairs. The sauna section is composed of: 2 Finnish saunas, steam cabin, diving pool, resting area, the use if which is possible for an extra charge in addition to the admission ticket.
Our therapeutic unit, which can be found in the building of the Covered Bath, may be accessed from both exits of the dressing rooms. The water therapeutic unit is on the same floor as the dressing rooms in the southern part of the building, while dry treatments are given in the covered bath's roof area. The following treatments, services are available:
Individual, group, underwater remedial gymnastics, curative massage, fango-treatment, packs, electrotherapy, reflexology, pedicure, underwater water-jet massage, weight bath, tub bath, carbon dioxide bath, galvanic treatment, standing-solarium.
Therapeutic Centre facilities:
Outdoor spa water pool (seasonally operated); pool area no. II. has 3 pools. (2 spa water pools, 1 Jacuzzi), with individual sanitary block, resting areas, free deck-beds.
Adventure Pool facilities:
1. Indoor adventure facility: an adventure pool with 10 different water attractions, multifunctional sport swimming pool with adventure elements, indoor children's pool. The use of the "Black Hole Slide" starting from and arriving to the building, the Kamikaze Slide, resting areas, deck-chairs, saunas (Finnish, aroma, and light therapy sauna), steam cabin and dressing rooms is free of charge. The salt chamber and the infra-cabin are also available with an extra ticket.
2. Outdoor adventure facility: an adventure bath with whirlpool, Scottish shower, springs, waterspouts, outdoor slide and hydro-massage pool, outdoor children's pool, sunbathing area, free deck-chairs.
Thermal Beach facilities:
In the thermal beach situated in more than 10 hectares of parked environment there are spa water pools (2), thermal water pools (sport, family, children), a splash pool, a wave pool and a beach slide complex (Family, Kamikaze, Anaconda Slide). You can find detailed information about the availability of all the slides operated by our company on our website. Safe, rent, dressing cabin and wardrobes are available for a fee, while the racked dressing room can be used free of charge.
GRÁNIT Spa Zrt. is at its guests' disposal every day of the year, reserving the right to change the opening hours, while providing website information at all times.
The Covered Bath with different therapies, the Therapeutic Centre and the Adventure Bath are in continuous operation, the Thermal Beach is operated seasonally, and the Therapeutic Centre's outdoor pool is open from early spring until late autumn.
Accessing the Thermal Beach is recommended through the Dísz-tér at the beach's main entrance and cashier's, as well as through the Adventure Bath's southern main entrance.
During the operation of the Thermal Beach, the Therapeutic Centre can also be accessed through the beach's main entrance.
The accessing of the not seasonally operated Covered Bath, Therapeutic centre is recommended through the Termál út main entrance.
