History
Although the healing effects of the mineral water of Dudince have been allegedly known since the times of Romans stay in our territory, Dudince is “the youngest spa town in Slovakia ” from the point of view of complex spa treatment development. Why is it so? A radical change in perception of Dudince and opinions about construction of the spa came as late as after the Second World War.
Within new trends, the Czechoslovak Republic decided to establish balneology in Slovakia . It was necessary to create a concept of utilization of healing waters and healing spas, which would give this field a certain sense and purpose. Therefore the healing spas and hot water springs were included in the competence of the Ministry of Health.
The first step by the Ministry of Health was to create a team of professionals lead by then lecturer of balneology in the Medical faculty of the Comenius University in Bratislava , prof. MUDr. Juraj Hensel. The team’s task was to elaborate priorities of the healing spa development according to the balneological values of healing water sources and medical needs.
Proposals elaborated by the team corresponded with recommendations set in the first balneography of Slovakia prepared in 1951 by Juraj Hensel. Prof. MUDr. Juraj Hensel was the founder and a head of Physiatric Clinic in Bratislava , Research Institute of Physical Medicine, Balneology and Climatology, later the Research Institute of Human Bioclimatology in Bratislava , and he is considered to be the founder of the Slovak balneology. He has always been interested in Dudince, the construction of which he expressly recommended with regard to certain criteria and balneological value of healing water springs.
Construction of the healing spa was started in a responsible way, based on a good knowledge of possibilities and needs. The spa had to be built “on a green meadow”. In that times there was only a small 1-floor building, so-called Spa House, with capacity of 22 beds and a small balneotherapy in the territory. The accommodation part on the first floor was exclusively for the institutional patients; however, balneotherapy could be used also by other patients. Catering was provided in the restaurant under the hill of Gestenec. This building of the old Spa House, used for church services for a short time, until the Roman-Catholic church was constructed, can still be found in the area.
Medical treatment was provided by a nurse working full time and a general practitioner from the nearby Demandice, who commuted to the Spa House two times a week. In 1958, a doctor working full time came to the spa. It was doctor MUDr. Tomáš Kaiser, the coordinator of construction and operation of the spa. Later he became the director of the spa, as well as the director of then Sanatorium Sitno (today Spa House Diamant).
After gaining a very good hydrological results and results of mineral spring researches, the Spa House Rubín started to be constructed in 1960, and later, in 1966 it was put into operation. Some seniors may remember it under the name Hont. The Spa house Rubín is connected to balneotherapy Krištáľ and also to the Spa House Smaragd, which was constructed later (it is in operation since 1978).
Natural healing spa in Dudince has undergone several management structures during its existence. It was established as a part of the state enterprise Czechoslovak State Spa Sliač, which was lead by MUDr. Ján Novák, an enthusiastic supporter of construction of the spa in Dudince. In 1992, the State Enterprise Sliač was divided and an independent company with affiliated Spa in Sklenné Teplice was created. Within transformation of healing balneology in Slovakia , the spa in Dudince was privatized. Spa Houses Rubín and Smaragd were administered by the company Honttherma, a.s.
In 2002 – after purchase of a major equity share by a new investor – a radical change happened in direction of the company’s activities. Spa Houses Smaragd and Rubín became known in the domestic and foreign market as Kúpele Dudince, a.s. Significant investments, improvement of quality and assortment of services, reconstruction of the Spa House Rubín and extensive activities made the Spa appreciated by more and more demanding clients and the Spa becomes a modern oasis of relax and comfort offering suitable stays for all the Spa guests.
Mineral water bath in a pool or tub
We offer two variants of basic mineral water treatment to clients of our Spa – bath in a pool or in a tub with a dry pack. Whether in a pool or in tub, the bath lasts 20 minutes and it is followed by a dry pack and rest (10 minutes). Relax in the unique mineral water of Dudince full of soft bubbles and let yourself enchanted by tones of relaxation music. Bath has healing effects, as well as the cosmetic ones – your skin will congest and it will be velvety smooth thanks to mineral substances of the water. Your mind will calm down. Mineral water treatment is based on the chemical effects of carbon dioxide and hydrogen -sulphide on the skin, through which they are absorbed into body. Both gases support each other’s effects. Next healing factor is the thermal phenomenon – water is warmed for individual baths in a tub up to 34 - 36 °C , for group bath in a pool it is warmed to 34 °C . Hydrostatic pressure and buoyancy represent mechanical influence of water. Water complexly influences functions of all the organs of the human body. Technical analysis characterizes this water as strongly mineralized, carbonic, hydrogen-carbonate-chloride, sodium-calcium water with increased content of boron, fluorine and magnesium, slightly acid, tepid and hypotonic, with natural temperature of 28.5 oC and the overall mineralization of 5,667 mg/ l. The content of 6 – 10 mg of hydrogen sulphide and 1,400 – 1,800 mg of carbon dioxide per one liter makes the water unique worldwide. However, nature did not distribute water of this composition to many places - allegedly only to Dudince, Japan and the well-known French spa Vichy.
Complex osteoporotic programe
Osteoporosis is one of the most serious bone illnesses. Brittle and fracture-prone bones are symptoms of the illness. It is often a bone fracture that warns of this illness – such cases occur especially in case of insufficient prevention or osteoporosis treatment. One of the possible ways of early diagnosing this illness is a densitometric examination, which determines density of the bone substance. Densitometry is a special test, which is not painful, it is precise and it provides results really fast. The Spa Dudince, a.s. is the first spa in Slovakia that included the complex osteoporotic programme into its offer. The programme comprises:

The possibility of being examined by DEXACARE, the bone densitometer, is offered twice a month in our Spa on the days announced in advance. The examination costs SKK 290 and it is really worth the early identification of the osteoporosis risk. The experts we cooperate with will willingly provide our patients with useful information about how to treat the illness and how to effectively prevent it. Clients can get more information and communicate their interest by their attending physician.
Consultations by a qualified psychologist can be taken on Monday and Thursday at 4:00 p.m.

Water treatment
Underwater massage of the whole body of the whole body combines the effect of a warm bath, massage and active and passive motions. Client lies in a bath tub full of warm water (35 – 37 °C ), therapist massages his/ her body by a stream of water flowing from massage shower head.

The massage is done by our Spa staff and its net duration is 20 minutes. Sparkling bath + admixture is toning and relaxing, it is suitable for weaker clients.Bath temperature is 36 – 37 °C

The procedure is suitable for treatment of arthritis, as well as for the clients after injuries or operations of locomotor system. There is another variation of it - a sparkling bath with admixture – bath salts open skin pores and active substances of healing plants may penetrate into your body.

This pleasant procedure under supervision of our Spa staff lasts 20 minutes. Scottish shower this procedure is characterized by alternating application of warm and cold water. The cycle begins with warm water (30 seconds) and continues with cold water (5 – 10 seconds), and it is repeated several times.

The procedure is done by the Spa staff and its net duration is 10 minutes. Treading bath Alternative treading bath is a partial bath. Two small tubs are used - one with warm water and the other one with cold water. At the beginning of the procedure, the client steps into the warm water bath and there he/she treads water for 1 minute. Then he/ she steps into the cold water bath and treads water for 15 seconds. And then back to warm water. This repeats 6 – 10 times. The procedure is prescribed with maximum regard to the client’s health condition, reactivity to impulses and his/her mental comfort.Net duration of the procedure is 15 minutes and its major positive effect is to relieve pain. Whirlpool bath is a water-treatment procedure applied to arms or legs, or to the whole body. Besides its thermal effect, whirling water gently massages your body. The procedure is suitable for weaker clients, clients after injuries and operations of locomotor system; it is used to treat rheumatism and neurological diseases. Positive effects:
alleviation of stiffness and relieve of pain

Interdia
it is an electrotherapeutic procedure making use of a special electrotherapy device called INTER – DIA N.S.T., characterized by its exclusive therapeutic possibilities.Interdia uses diadynamic mixed currents – it is an application of galvanic and faradic or impulse current.

Rebox Physio
Rebox Physio is a portable electrotherapeutic device connected to batteries and its important feature is that besides healing it gains information from the tissue during treatment. The device consists of two electrodes – client holds one moisten cylinder-shaped electrode in his/ her hand, and the therapist applies the second one to the treated part of body to approximately 20 – 30 points.Three programmes are used for treatment – Gentle, Standard and Analgetic. This device is recommended to treat neuralgias, migraines, arthrosis, conditions after injuries and other indications. The procedure is done by a physiotherapist and its net duration is 5 to 12 minutes.
Hydrogalvan
(also called four-chamber bath) is a device that enables in-depth galvanization of certain body parts by means of water electrodes. It consists of generator of galvanic current and water electrodes in a form of four small tubs made of non-conductive material (2 small tubs are for your arms and 2 for your legs). The small tubs are filled with water of 36 °C .The procedure is applied to people suffering from neuralgias, polyneuritis, joint aches and inflammatory diseases of connective tissue. The procedure is done by a physiotherapist and its net duration is 20 minutes.
Ultra sound
uses high frequency sound waves over the audibility threshold. Applied directly to tissue, its overall effect is tissue micro-massage and its simultaneous warming. Among positive effects of this procedure, there are:

Diadynamik
this procedure is based on one-phase or two-phase sinus one-way currents with low intensity, rhythmically interrupted. Infra-red
heater importance of infrared radiance is in the fact, that its effects are associated with several reflexes and reactions, which have been associated with stimuli of natural sources of heat during evolution (sun, fire, water). This radiance makes your skin red for a while. Infra-red radiance warms your skin, has analgetic and spasmolytic effects. The procedure is done by a physiotherapist; its net duration is 10 minutes.
Magnetotherapy
is the oldest type of physical therapy. It is based on action of artificial magnetic field with certain parameters on a human body. It is successfully used in various medicine fields (orthopaedics, balneology, rehabilitation, rheumatology, neurology, sport medicine and other).

Bioptron lamp

Bioptron lamp is used to relieve pain, to treat overstrained and stretched muscles, dislocations, fractions, rheumatic pain and other diagnosis. Net duration of this procedure under supervision of a physiotherapist is 10 minutes.
Paraffin packs of two locations
Paraffin pack of two locations – this is a warmth-treatment procedure, during which two basic characteristics of paraffin, as an oil product, are used – it is conductive and it delivers huge amount of warmth to your body during setting, and your body puts up with it very well. Paraffin pack is covered by a foil and a flannel sheet. This procedure is applied on places, where it is necessary to use the healing effect of the local thermal treatment.

is a device used to administer so-called oxygen treatment to the clients. Oxygen clears blood vessels, activates cerebral cells, supports heart action and revitalizes the whole blood circulation system. Oxygen is essential for the people.The oxygen treatment is recommended to treat chronic respiratory difficulties, cardiovascular diseases and increased blood pressure.

During the treatment clients are served mineral water drinks that refresh and revitalize them. Gaseous injections
A gaseous injection is a subdermal application of gas – carbon dioxide by a thin needle. It is recommended for ischemic heart disease and lower limb diseases. The injection is applied to the thoracic or cardiac region, small of the back or to joint region. It has significant bactericidal, spasmolytic and analgetic effects.
