Bath Spa Tatranske Matliare
Climatic alpine spa has a perfect location in the middle of coniferous forests and is protected by a mountain massif from the north. The spa lies in the centre of the Tatra National Park and is conveniently connected with other Tatra settlements such as Štrbské Pleso, Starý Smokovec and Tatranská Lomnica.
Favourable weather conditions, clean mountain air, beautiful nature of the mountains and coniferous forests and modern curative methods create effective circumstances for the successful treatment of oncological diseases, diseases caused by the metabolism and glands with inner secretion disorder (obesity, conditions after thyroid operations), nontuberculous respiratory diseases (chronic bronchitis, bronchial asthma, conditions after low respiratory tract and lungs operations, hypertrophic inflammations and artrophic changes of the upper respiratory tract, allergic colds, ozanea, conditions after upper respiratory tract operations), diseases of women (climacteric syndrome), some occupational diseases.

The climatic spa is situated in the southeastern part of the High Tatras mountain range, in a quiet setting of the Tatranské Matliare settlement, which is only 1.5 kilometres from the well-known Tatranská Lomnica tourist centre. At the same time, the spa is located outside the area's main tourist resorts, which ensures all-day relax and treatment.
The spa's location at the foot of the Lomnický štít peak at 885 metres above sea level, alongside favourable effects of the mountain climate, provide appropriate conditions for recovery of the ill and relaxation of the healthy.
The Tatranské Matliare Climatic Spa is managed by the Defence Ministry and is one of facilities of the Piešťany-based Vojenské zdravotnícke zariadenia company. The spa provides various treatment methods for clients employed in dangerous occupations, a number of kinds of short-term stays covered in full by the client, hotel accommodation with breakfast included and optional full pension and treatment procedures.
The climatic spa provides treatment especially for respiratory system diseases, recovery following operations of the upper and lower respiratory systems, post-operation care for thyroid patients and selected occupational diseases. The spa's equipment also allows for the treatment of secondary conditions, disorders of locomotive organs in particular. The treatment is based on climatotherapy, duly complemeted by inhalations, oxygenotherapy, hydrotherapy, electrotherapy, light therapy, manual therapy including massages, and saunas. Complex care and all procedures are administered in the area of the spa.
