Acupressure 

Originates from traditional Chinese medicine, it is a gentle type of massage. Like acupuncture by stimulating certain points of the body by fingers it can ease the complaints. It can by applied for relieving headache and fatigue and for dissolving blockades.  

 

Acupressure massage

Indicated mostly for those who live in stress or whose immune system has been weakened. The massage through acupressure points can dissolve the energy blockades that can cause illnesses. After the acupressure massage the flow of energy is recovered in the body. 

 

Acupuncture 

According to the base theory of this therapy the body has more than one hundred meridian points. Through the meridians with pinpricks certain parts of the body and organs can be positively influenced and stimulated. At the appropriate points very thin metal pins are picked into different depths of the skin. It is indicated for treating chronic joint and circulation complaints and for giving up harmful habits, but before applying medical consultation is recommended. 

 

Aerobic , step-aerobic 

We make all muscle groups work by constant exercises with music. Regular aerobic training improves the shape and strengthens the heart. Step aerobic means a dynamic movement using a step that has fat burning and muscle developing effects.

 

AHA skin rejuvenation 

The Alpha Hydroxy Acids (AHA) produce a continuous exfoliation of the dead skin cells on the top layer of the skin, allowing the skin to quickly develop new younger skin cells. This results in a smoother complexion. AHA Skin Smoother helps to get rid of blemishes and adds needed moisture to oily/blemish-prone skin and reduces flaking and smoothes fine lines in dry or aging skin.

 

Alexander method 

The essence of the method is to re-educate the mind and body to improve movement and gait. It focuses on relaxing the muscles, the neck and the shoulders in order to give the smallest amount of load to the spine.

 

Algae pack 

This is a generic term used to describe any body treatment, which is based on the application of algae. Commonly known as a Seaweed Wrap, it envelops the body in hot algae which helps to rid the body of toxins and excess fluid. Rich in vitamins, minerals and oligo elements it revitalises and rejuvenates. Because it raises the basal metabolic rate it can help as part of a weight loss programme. It is also known to have fantastic benefits for arthritis and rheumatism and general stress. Some types of algae have antibacterial or anti-rheumatic effect.

 

Aquarobic, Aquajogging 

Aquarobic or aquajogging means basically gymnastics in water with instructors and is often accompanied by music. Aerobic exercises performed in a pool using the support and resistance of the water to burn fat, strengthen bones, and increase cardiovascular health and endurance. The buoyancy of the water greatly reduces the chance of injuring joints or muscles. It has training and massage effects, too.

Aroma cabin 

The cabins are heated to different temperatures and volatile oil is sprinkled into the air. The effect can be refreshing or relaxing depending on the oil used.


Aromatherapy

Treating with volatile oils is a traditional method. The base of the method is that such oils can be absorbed through skin and are diffused by blood. Volatile oils can influence our mood therefore they can be used for curing psychical complaints. The main purpose of aromatherapy is to revitalize and clean the body and spirit. Its elements are inhalation, bathing in volatile oils or using them for massage. This treatment eases the stress related problems, migraine, discomfort etc. 

 

Autogenious Training

It is based on autosuggestion. Deep levels of relaxation can be attained through simple exercises like standing or lying down and concentrating on certain formulas or parts of the body or using adequate breathing technique. With simple, stable sentences the organs and functions are addressed. It is good especially for treating neurotical disorders, concentrational difficulties or sleeping disorders. Constant result can be achieved through regular training, but occassional, short practice has relaxing effects, too. 

 

Ayurveda 

Ancient Indian therapy that treats the person not the symptoms. By using natural methods and herbs it recovers the correct digestion in the body maintaining the right balance of the body and soul.

 

Abhyanga 

An Ayurvedic process. A deeply penetrating herbal oil massage that relaxes body and mind, breaks up impurities, and stimulates circulation of blood and lymph. Aids in detoxifying tissues and increase bodily awareness.

 

Acai 

Brazilian fruit, rich in nutrients and antioxidants used to prevent premature aging and promote cardiovascular health.

 

Acid Mantle

The natural acidity of the skin and hair that helps prevent bacterial growth.

Grade 3 acne, inflamed lesions and congestion


Acupressure

Aesthetic Medicine

Use of equipment, such as lasers, to remove scars and blemishes to leave skin looking youthful; administered by a medical professional within their scope of practice.

 

Albino

A person with no pigment in eyes, hair, and skin.

 

Algotherapy

A heated seaweed bath that is a form of thalassotherapy. The seaweed acts as an anti-inflammatory treatment and can reduce pain.

 

Alkalarian

A person and/or diet that emphasizes use of alkaline food, drink, and lifestyle in order to maintain a balanced acid-alkaline body chemistry for optimal health and vitality.

 

Alkali

A substance used to neutralize acids; capable of making soaps from fats.

 

Alkaline

A non-acid substance, or base, with a pH greater than 7; usually contains above average amounts of sodium, potassium, magnesium, or calcium.

 

Alopecia

Hair deficiency; baldness.

A natural skin lightening agent consisting of glucose and hydroquinone; derived from bearberry extract.

 

Aromatherapy

Spa treatments, such as massage and body wraps that incorporate fragrant essential oils with various therapeutic benefits.

 

Asanas

Yoga poses or postures.

 

Asepsis

An absence of pathogenic bacteria.

 

Ashiatsu

“Ashi” meaning “foot” and “atsu” meaning “pressure”, in this luxurious deep tissue massage the therapist walks along the client’s back.

Ayurveda

The Ayurvedic body functions, called doshas, consist of Vata, referring to blood, circulation, and healing; Pitta, referring to heat and metabolism; and Kapha, the structure of one’s spiritual and philosophical self.

 

Ayurvedic Massage
